On 7 January, a new-generation fully-automatic A-type urban train of 160km, equipped with HUAQI intelligent on-board PIS system, was jointly developed and put into operation by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd., Chengdu Metro Group and CRRC Chengdu Locomotive and Rolling Stock Co., Ltd..

The model is designed on the basis of advanced technologies such as 5G vehicle-to-ground network communication, fully automated driving, intelligent operation and maintenance, intrinsic safety, and lightweight technology, which completes the spectrum of urban railroad trains and ushers in the development of intelligent urban trains.

What is the intelligent on-board PIDS system?

The intelligent on-board PIDS system not only is compatible with the traditional on-board PIS system functionalities, but also incorporates an intelligent analysis system

The intelligent analysis system is composed of passenger behavior analysis system, crowdedness analysis system and terminal passenger clearance system. It can achieve real-time analysis and reporting of abnormal behavior of passengers in the carriage, crowding degree of passengers in the carriage, etc.

The video information is collected by the in-car camera and processed by the intelligent analysis host to output the crowding degree information, for examples, the number of passengers or density level. With respect to passengers with abnormal behavior, the alarm is triggered by specific behavioral characteristics, while the monitoring system linkage can be activated to facilitate inspection of the scene. Simultaneously, the driver will be reminded to pay attention to the carriage situation or synchronize the alarm information to the control center, triggering the early warning mechanism. The passenger behavior analysis function of the PIDS system delivered by our company is under the R&D and verification testing stage, which will be subsequently put online to gradually fulfill its designed functions.

1. Passenger counter for image acquisition and analysis

Through collecting and analyzing carriage monitoring video, intelligent modeling algorithm can accurately analyze the number of passengers in the carriage, supporting AI self-learning, making passenger counting increasingly accurate

2.Millimeter wave passenger counter

Integrating the millimeter wave passenger counter product at the entrance door, by capturing the millimeter wave sensor data installed above each door, the passenger quantity of each carriage is processed and analyzed in real time, which will be dynamically reported to the vehicle network system in real time.

3. Carriage crowdedness analysis

Carriage passenger density analysis is conducted by the two sets of passenger-counting systems mentioned above. Through the passenger room LCD, real-time crowding status of each carriage can be displayed, which supports real-time online reporting of the headcount in each carriage and can realize data sharing of vehicle and ground information.

4. Multimedia display

New hanging TV LCD with double-sided 28.9-inch large screen provides multimedia partition display, showing time, logo, arrival and departure stations and other operational information. Scroll bar displays the text information, local video, ground video or program advertising display, and carriage crowding status information, etc. in a scrolling manner. A rich information feast offers a technology-filled service experience for passengers.

5. Multi-dimensional monitoring system linkage

When there are multiple emergency linkage signals triggered concurrently, the monitoring screen displays the corresponding icons along the edge of the monitor screen. The first triggered one is displayed in full screen, with the remaining alarm icons displayed at the edge of the screen. By clicking the alarm icon, one can access the corresponding full-screen view. The control screen can achieve multi-dimensional centralized display and scattered display, with a clear view of the on-site alarm environment.

6. Intelligent passenger behavior analysis

Passenger room cameras capture video from carriages and perform video data analysis through edge intelligent analysis hosts. Abnormal passenger behavior is identified with timely local storage, delivering identified abnormal events and real-time alarm, so as to remind staff to confirm the event and take corresponding measures.
