Earlier this morning, Zheng Jianxin, Deputy Secretary of Changsha Municipal Party Committee, Mayor and Secretary of Hunan Xiangjiang New District Party Working Committee, announced the " initial operation of Changsha Metro Line 3 and Line 5 Phase I Project". Tan Yong, Deputy Mayor, presided over the openingceremony. At 11:28am, the two underground transportation arteries running east-west and north-south across the Star City both loaded with passengers, signifying the successful conclusion of the first two phases of Changsha's rail transit construction planning. Changsha metro is proudly heading into the era of"comprehensive network" operation, which also marks the first time ever that Changsha launched two metro lines in the same year or even on the same day. As of now, Changsha's rail transit operational mileage has exceeded up to 161.05 km, totaling 114 stations, including 12 interchange stations
The Metro Line 3 Phase I Project, which joins Yuelu District, Tianxin District, Yuhua District, Furong District, Kaifu District and Changsha County, represents the core backbone line of the southwest-northeast rail network, measuring 36.4 kilometers in length, passing through important areas and hubs such as Dawangshan Community, Yanghu New City, Yuelu University Town, He Long Sports Center, Houjiatang-Dongtang Business District, Changsha Train Station, Martyrs Memorial Park, Changsha University and Xingsha. The Metro Line 5 Phase I project serves as a north-south backbone line in the eastern part of the downtown area, covering a total length of 22.42 km, connecting important urban functional centers including Yuhua District, Furong District, Kaifu District and Changsha County, and linking numerous large residential neighborhoods, hospitals, vocational and technical colleges, as well as Hunan Broadcasting System, Malanshan Cultural and Creative Park, Wanjiali Business District and Provincial Botanical Garden. Following the preliminary operation of Line 3 and Line 5, the six districts and one county in the Changsha downtown area will achieve full metro coverage, and Xingsha will also be included in the operational map for the first time, embracing the metro era in its entirety.
