On 27 February at local time, Mexico Monterrey Light Railway Line 3 was launched, marking the first service of Chinese rail transportation equipment to Mexico.

Helme Rodriguez, Governor of Nuevo León, and Arturo Herrera, Minister of Finance, jointly cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony of the Monterrey Light Railway Line 3 Train. According to Helme Rodriguez, it was such a historic day that the launch of Line 3 signifies a significant progress of transportation in Nuevo León, with this new product being capable of delivering fast and comfortable travel to more than 116,000 individuals.

The Monterrey Light Railway Line 3 covers 7.5 km in length through 8 stations, linking the Metropolitan Hospital in San Nicolas with the General Zaragoza station in the downtown area of Monterrey. It connects with Line 1 at Felix Gomez Station and Line 2 at General Zaragoza Station, while interfacing with the bus transportation system at Ruiz Makuhari Station. The train is designed to operate at a speed of 80 km/h, with flexible configurations, allowing it to be operated in 2, 3 or 4 consecutive sections depending on the passenger flow; the articulated large axle weight light railway bogie is adopted, with a minimum turning radius of 25 meters; it is equipped with fully automatic hooks, so that it can be attached to the original vehicles and realize the "shared utilization across the whole line in one procurement" with the help of Line 1 and Line 2, thereby improving operational efficiency and reducing procurement costs.

HUAQI PIS Inside

Once HUAQI had been assigned the task, it successfully accomplished the product design, verification and delivery in time as per the customer's overseas project standard by overcoming numerous difficulties and working overtime in an extremely short period of time.

Flexible grouping method is adopted in Mexico Metro, with a single train of 2 carriages in normal condition, while supporting coupling operation of 2, 3 or 4 trains when experiencing high passenger flow. The on-board PIS supports automatic detection of the coupling status of trains, determining either the front coupling or the rear coupling, the number of couplings, etc.. Simultaneously, it features full-featured coupling, including passenger room broadcasting and monitoring camera for all coupled vehicles, facilitating the driver's operation. The arbitrary grouping and reconnection design is a major highlight of this PIS design.

The launching of Monterrey Light Railway marks the first appearance of HUAQI in the Mexican market. In the future, HUAQI will closely cooperate with the host vehicle manufacturers, and continuously engage in technological innovation upon self-improvement, moving forward, running towards the future, and endeavoring to brand more train PISs worldwide with the name of HUAQI.
